Hayward "Chuck" Carbo (January 11, 1926 – July 11, 2008)〔(''FindaGrave.com'' )〕 was an American R&B singer, best known for his time as a vocalist in the New Orleans group The Spiders. Carbo sang with his brother, Leonard "Chick" Carbo, in The Spiders, who recorded for Imperial Records in the 1950s and scored a string of hits on the U.S. Black Singles chart. After his brother launched a solo career, Chuck Carbo also recorded as a solo artist, cutting discs for Imperial, Rex, and Ace. Perhaps his best known song as a solo artist was the classic 1970 45 "Can I Be Your Squeeze," which was released as a digital 45 by iTunes in 2013. Carbo continued to perform intermittently for the next several decades, though he took odd jobs (including as a truck driver) whenever he could not make a living performing. In 1989, he recorded a version of the song "Meet Me with Your Black Drawers On", by Jeannie & Jimmy Cheatham, which led to a comeback album on Rounder Records in 1993 featuring Dr. John and Edward Frank. A second full-length followed in 1996. He died in July, 2008.
